So, as you may have guessed from the title (because you are super brilliant), today’s post is all about how to make a brownie, in a mug, in the microwave! Cool, right?

Microwave mug cakes are kind of a trend nowadays. In fact, microwave mug anything seems to be kind of a trend. You can find recipes for cake in a mug, or eggs in a mug, pasta in a mug, anything in a mug. Some of these mug recipes seem a bit iffy to me – like, if you’re going to all that trouble to microwave pasta, and then dump out excess water, and then microwave it with cheese and toppings, you might as well just make yourself regular pasta, you know?

Enter the brownie in a mug. This microwave mug recipe really is simple, easy, and time-saving. Oh, and delicious, too. You end up with a tasty, moist, fudgy brownie, all in a little over one minute. It’s perfect for when that chocolate craving hits, but you don’t have time slash patience to go and bake yourself some real brownies.

This single-serving brownie in a mug recipe contains no egg you need to separate, no butter you need to melt, and no baking powder. No complicated, fiddly steps or ingredients. Just dump everything into a mug, mix, and microwave.

Microwave mug brownie, waiting to be eaten

Ok, I keep saying brownie in a mug, but truth is, I’ve made this many times in other containers as well, not just mugs. But “brownie in a microwave safe food storage container” just doesn’t have the same ring to it, if you know what I mean. So for the purposes of this post, we are just going with the whole microwave mug recipe theme. Trend. Whatever.

This is great! I’ve been buying the prepackaged but this is way cheaper and I always have those ingredients on hand. It’s great when my house is becoming an empty nest and I don’t want to make a full pan of brownies because then I eat them all.

Yes, this is extremely convenient for a single-serve brownie treat. Enjoy!
